Thumbs up Pontiac 400ci ;bored .30 over Jet-Hot LT headers

a friend of mine is selling a 400ci sb that has been bored .30 over. It came out of a 1974 firebird. He's got the jet-hot coated headers to go with it that are brand new never been installed.

he was planning to use it on a project, but cancelled it and is selling off the parts he had.

any questions PM me and I'll get you an answer ASAP...

thanks

Is this a SBC or a 400 Poncho? The reason I ask is firebirds had Pontiac 400 engines which were big block, not Chevy small block 400. Casting numbers will help sell this motor.

i will try to get the casting numbers for absolute assurance as to what it is...
the original seller "claimed" that it came from a 74' pontiac. it might possibly be from something like a LeMans. either way, the numbers will tell... i'll post them as soon as i can...

new info

ok... the new information as i understand it is that Pontiac only made one size engine for a few years on all models. unless you had a car specific for canada.
so it's neither small block or big block, it's just a Pontiac 400 engine...

i still don't have the casting numbers, but i will get some pics and alll numbers and info on it within this week hopefully...

p.s. (somebody let me know if this is wrong..) title has been changed

If it's a Pontiac 400 it's a big block Pontiac 400 engine. As far as I know there is no such thing as a 400 SBP. Casting numbers or a nice pic would help clear this up.

Actually there is no such thing as a big block pontiac, all pontiac v8s except the 301 are all the same size on the outside, the 301 just had a slightly shorter deck height.

Please give me details, what does it come with, prce?

Just look at a Pontiac 350 and then a 350SBC and they look alot bigger than the Chevy Small block thats for sure.

Sure, they are biggger but that does not make them a "Big Block". There is not small block or big block designation in the pontiac family.

Poniac V8s are actually lighter than a big block chevy.

But, back to the topic, any more info on this engine? I could use it for my Firebird!

Guessing this motor is sold, or the owner doesn't want to sell it to bad.

I'm still interested if not.

Not to hijack, but... I have the BPO 350 out of my 73 'bird I'd let go pretty cheap if you're going to use it. It's complete. I have reciepts from the new (stock grind) cam, lifters and p-rods. It's complete from fan to flex-plate. Ran pretty good when I pulled it. Let me know if you're interested. Otherwise I'm going to build a blower motor out of it since they'll take a lot more abuse than an SBC. I may be able to get my hands on a BPO Th350 to go with it. Let me know.
